LVT, LVP and SPC: one family, three names

Walk into the showroom and you will hear all three. LVT is luxury vinyl tile, LVP is luxury vinyl plank, and SPC is stone polymer composite. They are floating floors with a click-locking system, and the lines we carry are scratch and dent resistant, waterproof and can last 20+ years.

SPC is the one to ask about for hard use. Its core is made up of crushed limestone and polymer, making it one of the strongest waterproof floors in today's market. Tell us about the room and we will say which line fits it.

Floating over concrete or wood, never over carpet

Because the planks lock to each other instead of being glued down, a vinyl floor can ride over a sound concrete or wood subfloor without a mess of adhesive. Carpet has to come up first. The carpeted hallway in our photos is a good example: the carpet went out and warm oak-look plank went down on the subfloor underneath.

When the subfloor is not ready, that gets fixed first. Subfloor work carries a limited 5 year transferable warranty on material and a limited 1 year transferable warranty on re-shim, and the installation itself carries our 1-year warranty.

Kids, pets and the 3-n-1 pad

A waterproof plank lets a spilled bowl sit on top instead of soaking in, and claws and chair legs have a hard time marking it. That is why vinyl is our most asked-for floor for homes with children or pets.

Some lines come with a pre-attached 3-n-1 underlayment pad, which acts as a sound reducer, vapor barrier and cushion. Whether you want that built in depends on the room, so we ask about your home, family size and pet situation on the phone, then build an estimate that fits your budget.
