Fibers, and where carpet belongs

Carpet is the most comfortable floor underfoot, and the fiber decides how it behaves. Carpet is made from cotton, wool, or synthetic fibers such as nylon and polyester, and the right one depends on who walks on it and how often.

Bedrooms and closets are the natural home for it. Two of our own before and after sets are exactly that: old carpet out of a master bedroom, and tan carpet out of a bedroom and closet, both replaced with new carpet.

Offices and corridors are a different job. We also lay commercial carpet tiles, and the old blue carpet in one commercial corridor became patterned grey carpet tile. Our commercial flooring page covers that side of the work.

Stretching, and what a durable seam really means

Carpet only lies right when it is pulled tight across the room. Our guide to East Texas flooring is plain about it: a do-it-yourself carpet job needs a carpet stretcher, and that is the tool the install crew brings.

Seams are where honest carpet companies get specific. In our installation agreement we guarantee professionally constructed durable seams, and we say in the same breath that professionally constructed seams are not invisible seams. You will be told that before the first cut, not after.

Furniture can be moved for an additional cost, and our installers will unhook but not re-hook electronic equipment or appliances. For an extra fee we will also cut the bottom of a door if the new floor height keeps it from opening and closing. When the work is done, our installers clean up and remove all trash.

A warm room, and a yearly clean

Carpet goes down best in a room that has been kept comfortable. The job site must be at no less than 67 degrees for 3 hours before, during and after the installation, so plan the thermostat the way you would for a guest.

Afterward the care is simple: we recommend an annual professional cleaning. That one habit keeps the pile looking the way it did the day the crew left.

Every professional installation also carries our 1-year installation warranty, which corrects defective workmanship or misapplication of the product at no additional cost to you.
